Science Partnerships Lead - Brazil
LinkedIn

Caro is a geochemist focused on translating rigorous science into the operational reality of deploying carbon dioxide removal at scale, with a technical specialty in evaluating and mapping feedstocks and rock powders for CDR deployments. She brings end-to-end experience in ERW science operations, having led field deployments, built and hired science teams, managed laboratory infrastructure, and developed research partnerships with Brazilian institutions to enable CDR science in the country. Over the past four years in the CDR industry, she has worked across enhanced rock weathering and ocean alkalinity enhancement, bridging science, operations, and business.

Caro holds a Ph.D. in marine geochemistry, paleoclimatology and the global carbon cycle from Heidelberg University, where her research used variations in carbonate chemistry as a proxy to reconstruct past ocean conditions, along with an M.Sc. in Earth Surface geochemistry and a B.Sc. in geology from the University of São Paulo. Having been based in Europe for the past decade, she works fluently across the ERW research and industry communities of Brazil, Europe, and the United States.

Caro is fluent in English, Italian, Spanish and Brazilian Portuguese, and outside of work enjoys cooking, walking in nature, and spending time with her husband and two children. She is now based out of Brazil.
